The Role of Mathematics and Computer Science in Governance Colloquium was held.

Dec 13, 2024

On the occasion of Research and Technology Week, the Student Scientific Association of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Lorestan University, held a promotional scientific chair on the role of mathematics and computer science in governance, presented by Dr. Ebrahim Souri, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the university.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, this chair was held with the presence of Dr. Mojtaba Moradipour, Dr. Meysam Ghahremani, and a group of students from the Faculty of Basic Sciences of Lorestan University.

The chair examined the application of mathematical simulations, artificial intelligence, data mining, and statistics in governance.

How to use mathematics, artificial intelligence, simulations, data mining, and statistics in governance was demonstrated; in such a way that before a policy is implemented, it is first simulated through a policy-making laboratory and with the help of mathematical sciences and computer science, and its positive and negative consequences are measured and evaluated, and the necessary predictions are obtained by algorithms based on data.

One of the methods for predicting policy outcomes is artificial intelligence and algorithm design; by utilizing data and linear regression and statistical rules, we can also examine probabilities, which is a type of prediction; the basis of governance is extracting information from data.

Data engineering has no other way than using mathematical concepts, statistics, computer science, and algorithms.

For engineering the data needed for governance, mathematics, statistics, and computer science are used.
