To commemorate Research and Technology Week, and in line with the university's community-oriented approach, and in accordance with the capacities and needs of the province, a promotional scientific chair titled "Tourism and Ecotourism Capacities of Lorestan Province with Emphasis on Khorramabad," was held, presented by Dr. Amir Ahangaran, a faculty member of the Department of History and Archaeology at Lorestan University.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, the chair was managed by Dr. S. Khazaei, and the critics were Dr. Younes Yousefvand and Dr. Karim Golshani Rad, faculty members of the Department of History and Archaeology at Lorestan University.

Dr. Amir Ahangaran, in this chair, first pointed to the role and position of the tourism industry as the largest and most diverse service industry in terms of revenue generation in the world, and that the tourism industry in recent years, after the chemical, petrochemical, and oil and gas industries, has become the third-largest industry in the world.

Today, the financial turnover resulting from the tourism industry significantly contributes to the economic growth and development of countries and affects all sectors of the economy.

The tourism industry, as a dynamic and growing industry, directly and indirectly creates many jobs in the host communities of tourists; because every one tourist, especially a foreign tourist who enters Iran, can directly and indirectly create jobs for 150 people.

With proper management and planning in this field, tourism at the national and local levels can successfully attract many tourists, which strengthens the positive social, economic, and environmental aspects in the country, provinces, and tourist-friendly cities.

Lorestan province, especially the city of Khorramabad, which is located in the center of the province, with its great potential in the field of tourism and ecotourism, can become one of the tourism and ecotourism hubs in the country.

Lorestan province, considering its beautiful and sometimes unique landscapes such as towering peaks, diverse plant cover due to the four seasons of this province, vast plains and diverse springs, numerous and magnificent waterfalls, lakes and wetlands, medicinal plants and other potentials in historical and cultural fields such as historical bridges and castles, Imamzadehs, sweets and local foods, etc., can annually host thousands of people in different seasons of the year, both based on the goals and motivations of tourists and based on the location of tourists in the areas of recreational tourism, nature tourism, urban tourism, rural tourism, nomadic and ethnic tourism, mountain tourism, medical tourism, sports tourism, historical tourism, religious tourism, etc., to spend leisure time as domestic and even foreign tourists.

Of course, this is achieved on the condition that solutions such as creating the necessary infrastructure in tourist-friendly areas, increasing the number of hotels and ecotourism accommodations along with improving the quality of services provided in them, and, most importantly, creating more safety to gain the satisfaction of tourists, which plays an important role in the development of the tourism industry, are considered by the relevant authorities; because these issues will ensure that, as the highway of money and wealth passes through the path of tourism today, and some countries and prominent cities in the world are successful in gaining considerable revenues in the tourism industry, Lorestan province and the city of Khorramabad will also achieve successes in this growing industry and even, through this, a significant part of the unemployment problem of young and job-seeking people will be resolved.

Finally, and considering all these interpretations, even some cities in Lorestan province, such as Aligudarz, despite having high peaks and numerous waterfalls and springs, can be considered as a mountain tourism hub in the field of mountaineering and recreation, and the city of Khorramabad, as the center of the province, due to having mountains and waterfalls, plains, springs and historical monuments of different periods, can be converted into a tourism pilot in various types of tourism in the country.

The city of Khorramabad even has the ability to create a cable car in Tang-e Shabikhun and Bam-e Khorramabad to attract more tourists with the participation of the private sector to soothe the spirits of tourists from the beauty of the Makhmal-Kuh region and also the beautiful scenery of this city in the winter, autumn and spring seasons.

Parts of Makhmal Kuh, especially the Darhouz area, have the potential to create a rock climbing site for athletes in this sports field if a solution is considered for it.

Of course, all of this depends on creating more security and culture, especially setting goals and establishing executive instructions focused on the privatization of accommodation and ecotourism units, tourism advertising, training human resources as tourism tour guides, incentive policies and creating the necessary infrastructure by the government and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage for the host and welcoming areas for tourists.
